We’re incredibly excited to share our brand new video for Revival premiering today on the front page of YouTube!  Revival is one of our most inspiring partnerships to date. Created by  illustrator Leighton Kelly and director/animator Ivan Landau,  who calls the experience, “a collaborative dream”.  The music video is a visual feast that travels through surreal landscapes meeting mythical creatures who embark on a far-reaching journey to revive dance from the dead. Landau comments,

“This video started as a little dream. It’s been amazing watching it materialize from subconscious to screen.”

So turn the lights down, make some popcorn and enjoy the film!

When Zoe Jakes was starting out as a belly dancer, she made her living by dancing for Arabic and Persian groups—cultures that traditionally don’t approve of tattoos. “I had the girl on my back, but the rest of my body stayed untattooed because I needed to be able to work at restaurants, private parties, and weddings,” she says. “The minute I started getting successful in more alternative stuff, that’s when I just went for broke, because I love adornment. I love the way it makes the body look and changes when I dance.”

We had an amazing time with everyone who came out this spring tour! From San Francisco to NYC we traveled to some beautiful places and had some wild unexpected adventures. Beats Antique here with some updates. Hope you all are ready to come out of hibernation with us and get freaky on the dance floor this spring. We have recently returned form our first Australian and New Zealand tour with a stop in Hawaii. We had an amazing time getting to know the world down under, which had many similarities to our beloved west coast. It turns out that Sidecar Tommy has fulfilled his life long dream of flying by jumping out of a plane over the gorgeous Australian coast and it seems to be easier to find a spider bigger than your hand than it is to find a burger made of kangaroo. Cant’t wait till next time, we shall return.Thank you all so much for selling out the FILLMORE in San Francisco, California. We were blown away when the FILLMORE sold out a month in advance. We wish we could add a second show but the historic Fillmore is notorious for being booked way in advance. Hope to see you all at High Sierra Music Festival, Lightning in a Bottle and other California shows this year!
